This project is a series of photographs I recently made while undertaking an arts and health module in a hospital in Dublin.
During this time we received lectures from nurses and doctors as well as artists that worked in the field of arts and health while also
working with patients in the hospital.
I created these photographs as I became interested in hospital food. The good, the bad, and the ugly. I was very interested in the idea of protected mealtimes and how they are extremely important for the patients, doctors, and visitors.
I was inspired by old cookbooks and recipe cards when making these photos. I loved their use of colourful and creative presentations to illustrate their recipes. I intended to capture the calculated and precise recipes, food as a way of obtaining necessary nutrients, along with the loss of home cooking and crockery, while also capturing the joy and comfort they can bring.
